Deacons/Health Ministry
Body, Mind, and Spirit
Lent is an opportunity to be in prayer, to get quiet and watch with Christ.
It’s a time to evaluate our lives, and to search our real priorities. We can
begin by asking the Lord to show us the areas in our lives that need change and ask him to send his Holy Spirit to prepare and strengthen us to begin the process. We need to remember why we are Christians and what God asks of us. We need to remember others who might be lifted up by our faith, hope, love and inspiration. We might begin by listening more carefully to those God calls to our mind, and stop what we are doing to say a prayer, make a call, send a card, or by doing some other act of kindness.
"Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the Temple of the God of Israel.
There he will teach us his ways, so that we may obey him"…
Isaiah 2:3
Remember your body belongs to God; take care of it.
March is National colorectal cancer awareness month and National Nutrition Month. If you are 50yrs or older remember to ask your doctor about getting a colonoscopy. Remember to give your body nutritious food by adding a variety of colorful fruits and vegetables and fiber to your diet.
Blessed are they who start each day with breakfast.
Blessed are they who never go hungry.
Blessed are they who keep their body fit and bones strong.
Blessed are they who seek to gain control over sugar and caffeine.
Blessed are they who reject fad diets.
Blessed are they who thank the Lord daily for the bounty of His food blessings.
Blessed are they who eat more fiber.
Blessed are they who enjoy the fat of rams in modest amounts.
(And those who choose monounsaturated, polyunsaturated fats, mega-3 fatty acids
and limit or omit trans fatty acids, since not all fats are created equal)
Blessed are they who drink from the water of life at least 8 times a day.
Blessed are they who look at thy body and see the beauty that God sees.
